Whites Now Minority in 1 in 10 U.S. Counties
The U.S. Census Bureau reported on Thursday, August 9, 2007 that Whites are now a minority in nearly 1 in 10 of the 3,141 counties in the U.S. Therefore, now more than 303 counties in the U.S. have majority-minority populations. The increase in diversity in the counties has been attributed to immigration and higher birth rates among blacks and Hispanics.
